Animal Skeletons Cat & Dog

 


Here are my drawings of cat's and dog's skeletons. We had to draw these during life drawing class within 3 hours. I'm quite happy with my first attempt doing animal skeletons. We will have to choose one animal and draw the silhouette of it and figure out 3 parts of muscles. Gonna choose the dog and draw it as a husky. =)

Just did a quick coloring with dry brush in photoshop, and I actually like these rough lines more than the final cleaned-up lines. It's really rough, but it's my first time putting out a PNG image because I wanted no backgrounds.

Color Pose

As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to color my bike rider character =)

Here it is. Basically just colored it in a flat tone, and did a tiny bit of shading.

Maybe I could try a different color for the body though, because it felt too similar to a human's skin tone.... Oh well, I'm happy about it anyways.

Character Rotation

Here is my character for Weight, Lift & Toss Assignment.

My original idea was a boy scout wolf, but then I wanted to simplify it more. Therefore, I resulted with this pilot/ bike rider-like character.
It was fun designing the 3/4 front view, but then the profile and 3/4 back were really hard for me. I suppose I wasn't familiar enough with the character, so it was kind of hard to visualize it in different views.

Moving on to the actual poses... I hope I can finish it on time!

And also, if I have time later on, I would love to color this character~

Tonal & Color Studies for Painting

Here are my painting thumbnails for the first Exterior Design Assignment. 

I really enjoyed doing all three of them, and it's gonna be a hard decision to choose the final one. The thing with color pencils is that you have to build the layers so that it doesn't get waxy at the very beginning; therefore, it took me about two hours for each one of the color studies. I probably could have done it faster, but then I think that looses the meaning of "study". 

Anyways, I think I'm gonna go with the camping site with the Volkswagen Van =)

Sunshine Character =)

Here is a character I drew based on myself, haha. It was the first page of my new character sketchbook. I did the lines traditionally, and then colored it in photoshop. I tried out new techniques of masking in order to color different parts separately, but I don't know if it really helped the process. I know there are probably plenty more ways that can do it a lot faster.... But I really enjoyed this one too!! Really had fun exploring color palettes and applications.
