I have always loved Polar Bears.
I went to a Japanese festival recently and got a fan just like the one in the drawing. So I thought I should do a polar bear character in the style that I like with Japanese elements.
It took me a while to finish it, because I didn't really follow the line work, and I was struggling with color. I was going to experiment it with a 2-dimensional graphic style, but I ended up rendering it and adding textures and stuff.
I really need to work on my digital coloring skills, because it just took too long, and that is not good enough for a soon-to-be 3rd year animation student.
Overall, I really like this character because it is original and I enjoyed creating it~

Italy Final Project
I made this panorama for my Italy trip.
It represented the cultural impact and knowledge that were given to us, and the effects on me throughout the whole journey.
I was falling behind whenever we arrived at a new place, because there were just too many things to see and to take pictures of. I was in pain, but still trying to catch up.
"Dove Mickey?" meaning where is Mickey kind of became a joke for the group, because I actually lost track of the group for several times and had to find my way back on my own.
Overall, it was a painful but also valuable experience for me mentally and physically.
And I am glad that my drawing skills improved so much during my time there.

Portrait Commission for Jennifer Auntie
I did this portrait painting for my mom's friend.
It is a present for thanking her that she let us stayed at her place while we were at San Francisco.
Latte was her first dog, but he passed away a few months ago. But we met Neo at her place, and he was really energetic and really loves his mommy.
This was my first time to actually finish a detailed portrait, especially the hair and the furs. I didn't know i would have that patience to actually draw the strokes, but the result turned out really great, and my mom loved it too. We even bought a frame to make it look authentic and professional.
She is going to give it to her friend on her trip to LA in September, I hope she likes it too!!

Character Performace
This is the second last assignment for Character Design Class. I decided to use vector forms to create it so that I can keep the shapes consistent. It was a whole new experience and pretty fun too!
Haha it's a shiba adventurer who found a treasure box that contains gold, but he is interested in the wines. He enjoys his wine, but unfortunately he gets poisoned and dies.

Sunset Church Painting
Remember the black and white layout from last semester? This semester we had to pick a layout drawing and paint it with color, so I picked this church drawing.
I knew I wanted to do a sunset scene, and luckily I found a reference on Google. Even though the tones are different within the two, the second painting is the result of my sunset painting.
Most importantly, I think I have improved in digital painting and all the layering suddenly just became so clear to me. I'm really satisfied. =)

Vegetoys "Super Mommy"
This is an assignment for picking storyboard color keys. We did a commercial TV boards in story class, and then we color the key panels for painting class.
The story is about Super Mommy giving the baby Vegetoys to prevent it from chewing on other inappropriate things and to keep the baby healthy.
I was gonna make Super Mommy's outfit indigo blue, but then turned out that purple works fine too with yellow and the background. It's ironic how I ended up with my Dad's favorite color combination even if I don't really like them.
